With a core faculty of 34 representing virtually all major statistical specializations, the department continues to be recognized as a world leader in graduate education and research in statistics. Areas of research include time series, econometrics, ecology, genetics, biomathematics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, linear and nonlinear models, design of experiments, sampling, probability, environmental applications, statistical process and quality control, statistical computing, nonparametric regression and inference, stochastic processes, statistical inference and Bayesian theory.
