Junior Tenure Track Positions

The Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University invites applications for one or more junior tenure track faculty (Assistant Professor) positions. Appointments are to begin in August 2010.

The Department is one of the oldest and largest in the country and provides a dynamic environment for teaching, research and collaborations across disciplines. The Department is a partner in the Center for Quantitative Sciences in Biomedicine and the Bioinformatics Research Center. The Department's location in the Research Triangle provides rich opportunities for interactions with industry; other universities, including Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; and government agencies. Faculty enjoy collaborations with medical researchers at Duke, environmental scientists at the EPA research facility, pharmaceutical researchers at GlaxoSmithKline, and software developers at SAS Institute, among many others. The Department also is a founding cooperator of the National Institute of Statistical Sciences (NISS) and the NSF funded Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (SAMSI). Both NISS and SAMSI provide excellent research opportunities. The Department moved into a newly constructed SAS Hall in May 2009, offering state-of-the-art offices and instructional facilities. It is an exciting time to be in the Research Triangle area and an exciting time to join a department that is looking to expand significantly on its strengths.

All applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. in Statistics or Biostatistics by the time of employment. Responsibilities include teaching and research. The department seeks applications from candidates from ALL areas of statistics. Preference will be given to applicants with a background in sampling methods, analytics and computational statistics, and a research interest in health, energy or environment.

Please visit https://jobs.ncsu.edu/applicants/Central?quickFind=84432 for more information and to apply.
