This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in epidemiology and statistics to join the COSMOS study (http://www.ukcosmos.org), a major international research programme investigating mobile phone use and health across 5 European countries. The UK arm of the study is based at the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics has attracted an excellent multi-disciplinary team interfacing across epidemiology, database programming, geographical information systems, and statistical methodology.

The emphasis of this role is on working with the research team to deliver a high quality unified COSMOS dataset for future epidemiological analysis, and a comprehensive evaluation and description of the data collected to date to inform the design of follow-up questionnaires and future data collection.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in epidemiology and statistics and will join a leading group at the cutting edge of developments in mobile phone use and health research.  This environment provides strong opportunities for continuing professional development. Applicants should hold an MSc or equivalent in Epidemiology, Public Health, Statistics or related field.

This full-time post is based at the St Mary’s Campus, Paddington in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics and will be fixed term from the date of appointment for 12 months in the first instance.

Description of Ideal Candidate

An ideal candidate is a PhD with data science expertise in such areas as advanced analytics, data mining, database management, financial analysis, predictive modeling, quantitative reasoning, decision management and web analytics. A PhD in econometrics, statistics, or biostatistics is preferred. The External Entrepreneur should be able to exhibit creativity, critical thinking/problem solving as well as advanced communication and leadership skills. This individual should be able to transform data into actionable insights and to develop statistically sound and robust analytic solutions. In addition, the External Entrepreneur should be capable of evaluating constraints on the use of data, assessing data structure and the data lifecycle especially in the application of regression and time series models. Strong programmatic knowledge of HHS and the federal discretionary grants business operation would be beneficial to the success of this high-risk, high benefit proposal.

Singapore Clinical Research Institute is in the process of expanding our Biostatistics team, and now looking specifically for a PhD level Biostatistician/Senior Biostatistician/Principal Biostatistician with methodological background and/or experience in Adaptive Design clinical trials. Seniority of the position will be offered considering relevant experience and competency in the work. A brief description of the position is as below:

Biostatistician/Senior Biostatistician/Principal Biostatistician (permanent position)

You will be responsible for the following:

·         Provide statistical support for clinical studies, including study design, sample size estimation, patient randomization, statistical analyses (usually by SAS), and interpretation of data and reporting of results.

·         To facilitate biostatisticians and clinical researchers in designing adaptive clinical trials

·         Provide training and preparing educational material on adaptive design methodologies

·         To develop statistical methodology required to address research problems in application of adaptive design

·         To provide research consultation and mentoring to clinical researchers

Requirements:

·         PhD degree in statistics or closely related area

·         Methodological background or working experience in adaptive design trials

·         Competency in applying statistical thinking to solve problems in clinical research

·         Competency in communicating statistics in English to non-statisticians and appreciating the perspectives of non-statisticians

·         At least 2 year’s work experience in research

·         Experience and ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

The Department of Statistics at the University of Chicago has two openings for the William H. Kruskal Instructorship. We seek recent or expected Ph.D. graduates doing advanced research with a connection to statistical methodology and computation, preferably in relation with a scientific application. It is expected that all successful applicants will engage in teaching two undergraduate Statistics courses and possibly a graduate-level course in their field of interest. While not all applicants need be specifically trained in statistics, they must have doctorates in statistics or some field of mathematics or science where statistical concepts or methods play an important role. 1. develop and implement methodology for the Bayesian analysis of
uncertainty in computer model outputs, with a particular focus on model
calibration and optimisation, and

2. develop and implement statistical methodology for signalling out of
control processes in the presence of autocorrelation. Use this methodology
to construct optimal feedback adjustment techniques, in order to return the
processes to target levels.

The Research Associate will be working under the supervision of Dr Jeremy
Oakley, Dr Eleanor Stillman and Dr Kostas Triantafyllopoulos in the School
of Mathematics and Statistics, and will be collaborating actively with
researchers at the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.

Candidates should have (or expect soon to have) a PhD in Statistics or a
related field with a strong background in Bayesian statistical methods, and
good statistical computing skills in a software environment such as R or
Matlab.
