Asst Prof at U New Mexico

The Department anticipates one faculty appointment at the Assistant Professor level in statistics beginning Fall, 2013. This is a probationary appointment leading to a tenure decision. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, or a closely related field, by 8/10/13.

Preference will be given to candidates committed to establishing a strong research program with an emerging national/international reputation; a demonstrated or potential publication record in recognized premier journals;
an interest in research interactions with the Statistics faculty; a commitment to excellence in statistics and probability education at the undergraduate through graduate level; potential for service to the Statistics Program and Department; and a desire to participate in an environment comprising significant cultural diversity.

The Department has 6 faculty members in statistics, offers B.S, M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics, and administers the Statistics Clinic. The university is in close proximity to Sandia National Laboratories and Los Alamos National Laboratory. Many faculty members have ties with these and other institutions.
