The University of Delaware College of Health Sciences is looking to hire a Biostatistician.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Associate Dean for Research, provide statistical support to researchers in the College. Major responsibilities include the following:
- Collaborate with College investigators in developing and conducting research projects, including power and sample size calculations, sampling and data collection procedures, and data analysis and interpretation.
- Develop and implement new, innovative procedures, as required, for data collection, quality control, statistical analyses, and presentation of results.
- Assist researchers with the statistical components of manuscript and abstract preparation.
- Collaborate with researchers in developing and preparing proposals.
- Help establish a core facility in biostatistics
- Deliver instructional workshops on study design, statistical analysis, and use of relevant statistical analysis software.

QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. required in biostatistics, statistics, mathematics, or other job-related discipline and minimum of three years of statistical consulting experience. Experience in higher education preferred. Strong analytical capabilities and technical skills, including the use of relational databases and spreadsheets. Experience in analyzing data using commercial statistical packages. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to constructively criticize and suggest viable alternatives. Advanced quantitative knowledge. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment and effectively meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively and interact well with people of all ages and diverse backgrounds.

The College of Health Sciences is a thriving academic unit of over 2500 students and approximately 100 faculty with state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities. The College includes the departments of Behavioral Health and Nutrition, Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, Medical Technology, and Physical Therapy, and the School of Nursing.
