Statistician at Babcock & Wilcox

The Babcock &Wilcox Nuclear Operations Group in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Statistician to perform statistical analysis including analysis of variance and regression within a manufacturing environment. This position will provide ad-hoc statistical support to groups throughout the organization to support production. These include problem solving investigations, continuous improvement initiatives, cost reduction assessment, inspection qualifications and process capability studies.  The candidate shall meet the following job requirements:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Statistics; a Master’s degree is preferred. No experience is required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to present results throughout all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
  • Ability to translate requirements from various organizations and select the appropriate statistical analysis to produce relevant results.
  • Leadership, organization, and time management skills in an environment demanding multi-tasking.
  • Computer programming logic skills; SAS programming experience is desired.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Access required.
