Abstract: Anastasios Tsiatis played a key role in making group sequential trials the current practice. He established the large-sample properties of accumulating test statistics derived from time-to-event data, allowing for generalization of the approach to produce different boundaries. In this talk, I will discuss some aspects of group sequential clinical trial designs that still warrant discussion, focusing on different philosophical approaches to study design.
