The Department of Statistics runs it's own AFS server. That means all faculty/staff files that are stored in the UNITY system are located on a server in the department. This is beneficial when quotas need to be quickly increased or restores of lost data needs to be done. Currently the policy is to limit AFS locker quotas to 650MB limits. However a person may have mulitle lockers mounted off their home directory.

The department gives every grad student a locker mounted as research in their home space. This locker begins with a quota of 60MB, however as the need for more space arrises the quota will be increased. (NOT Exceeding 650MB)

Additional lockers for research or software can be created upon request from the faculty. All lockers in the department gets backed up to tape. (Monday-Friday) The tapes are recycled every (4) weeks giving you approximately a months worth of available backup.
