The Department of Statistics has a RSYNC backup server. That means all users in the department that have files that NOT stored on the UNITY system can have their data backed up to a different server in the department.

RSYNC is a cross platform (Windows, Linux, Mac) utility that can do incremental backups to a centralized server. This allows for stand-alone systems to have some sort of backup capability in the event of data loss.

All user space gets backed up to tape. (Monday-Friday) The tapes are recycled every (4) weeks giving you approximately a month's worth of available backup.
