The Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University is hosting A Pipeline Issues Workshop on Saturday, September 30, 2006. Participants will include approximately thirty selected faculty from women's colleges and minority serving institutions. Presenters will include faculty and graduate students from research I universities. Principal funding is provided by the American Statistical Association through a Strategic Initiatives Grant.

The purpose of this workshop is to discuss issues that affect the pipeline of students from smaller colleges to graduate programs in statistics. The workshop is organized into four interactive sessions which will address the following:

• Excellent career opportunities in statistics
• Mentoring and partnership opportunities
• Preparation for statistics graduate programs
• Resources available for instructors at smaller colleges

We anticipate funding the majority of participants. Space is limited, so early registration is strongly encouraged. The deadline for registration is Friday, August 25.
