The one year masters program has the same requirements as the current Master of Statistics program. We are now offering the core courses in the summer and fall to allow a student to finish in one year. This route may be more useful for students interested in working in industry who wish to limit their absence from the workforce.

*Students will take the basic exam in early January

1. Are the same concentrations available?

   Yes, although the timing of courses may be more difficult with some of the concentrations.

2. Are the prerequisites different from the current Master of Statistics?

   Because of the compressed schedule, students should take Advanced Calculus before beginning the program.

3. Are there any qualifying exams?

   The Basic Exam which covers the core courses (Math Stat I&II, Stat Methods II, and Linear Models), is given in early January before Spring classes start.

4. Will there be opportunities for financial support, such as Teaching or Research Assistant?

   No. Because of the heavier course load, students wouldn't have time for classes and work.

5. Is the application deadline different for the One Year Program?

   Yes, since courses start in the Summer, the deadline is January 15, and student should apply for 'Summer 1' admission.
