Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics

We will be holding our SIBS program again June 8 - July 17, 2015!

The deadline for submitting applications was March 6, 2015.

Biostatistics is the exciting field that applies statistics to medical and public health research. Biostatisticians work closely with experts from other fields in research teams. Together they seek to answer serious and important questions that affect human health and well being.

The demand for biostatisticians TODAY is greater than ever before, and it is expected to continue to INCREASE in the future.

The Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics (SIBS), sponsored by the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) and the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), is a 6-week program to give undergraduate students majoring in or with background in the quantitative sciences the opportunity to explore a career in biostatistics. 2015 Program Flyer PDF Document Icon.

Our program has been offered every year since the Summer of 2004. Each year the program was a great success, with over 65% of eligible participants going on to graduate school in the field!

We will host our program again June 8 - July 17, 2015, with an opening dinner/social on June 7. Undergraduate students (including students who will have graduated in Spring 2015) and beginning graduate students who are US citizens or US Permanent Residents are eligible (this is a NIH requirement).

The Program Features...
