      <font size="2">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Statistics majors may be invited to
join the
Statistics Honors Program in the first semester of the junior year or
in the &nbsp;second semester of the sophomore year. To be invited, a student
must have a GPA of at least 3.5 and the &nbsp;recommendation of the
Statistics Undergraduate Program Director (Dr. Roger Woodard). To
complete the &nbsp;requirements of the program, a student must graduate with
an overall GPA of 3.4 or higher and have taken at least 9 &nbsp;hours from 2
of the following 3 categories of classes.</font></h3>

      <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;1) MA 425, MA 426</p>

      <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;2) ST 505, 512R, 521, 522, and MA
511, 512,
513, 520, 544, 546 and other 500 level ST or MA &nbsp;courses designated as
appropriate by the honors advisor. </p>

      <p>&nbsp;&nbsp;3) 400 or 500 level independent study courses. Most
students
take ST 495 or ST 498 for this category.</p>

      <p>&nbsp;Students who complete the honors program in statistics
will be
recognized by having an H beside their names in the &nbsp;commencement
program, the phrase "Completed Honors Program in Statistics" on their
permanent transcripts and &nbsp;their names in the Honors Convocation
program. Honors students will also be appropriately recognized at the
statistics &nbsp;departmental graduation ceremony and receive a certificate
of achievement.</p>
