This talk starts with providing an introductory overview of IBM Research, and then presents some of current statistical research projects at IBM. Business analytics system development is a rapidly growing area in enterprise software and services business. IBM has been involved in this area actively, as reflected by the introduction of a new business analytics service practice offering, the enterprise business analytics software acquisitions, and the Smarter Planet initiatives. Statistical research conducted in our department is aligned closely with this strategic area for IBM. In this talk, a few specific research projects as related to business analytics are described.
