The Most Important Lecture in the History of Statistics
Abstract
The title raises many questions. Is it arrogant
self-promotion? And if so, will the talk deliver? Or is the subject
another, earlier lecture? But could a single lecture really change the
course of statistical history, lay the groundwork for a new paradigm
and directly lead to the creation of several branches of the modern
discipline, including most of multivariate analysis and Bayesian
inference? The answer to all these questions is "yes".
