Opportunites for statisticians to apply their training and talents to problems in biomedical, pharamceutical, and public health research are plentiful, and numerous graduates of the Department of Statistics at North Carolina State University are currently carrying out such work in positions in academia, industry, and government. Three recent graduates of the Department will describe the nature of their positions, discuss the exciting statistical challenges they encounter in their positions, and offer their perspectives on life as a statistician involved with biomedical applications. Dr. Anstrom is currently Assistant Research Professor of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Duke University School of Medicine, Dr. Bang is Research Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at UNC-CH School of Public Health, and Dr. Zhu is Principal Scientist at GlaxoSmithKline. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion.
