"Generalized smoothing spline for Bayesian estimation with a partially improper prior"

ABSTRACT

Firstly, I will talk about the equivalence of spline and generalized smoothing spline to Bayesian estimation with a partially improper prior. This is based on the paper Wahba (1978). Then the Bayesian confidence interval for smoothing spline estimate will be briefly introduced from two perspectives: Wahba (1985) Nychka (1988).
Secondly, if time permitting, I will talk about an open problem related to my current research. It is a variant of smoothing spline for simultaneous model selection and estimation. We can discuss the possible way of Bayesian construction for the method of interest.
