Trouble with Cut and Paste in Unix
System: UNIX version 6.12
The default action in UNIX is to automatically store selected
(highlighted) text to the paste buffer, rather than permitting the user to
specify the desired action, such as cut or copy. The "automatic store
selection" feature can be turned off as follows:
Using pull-down menus, click
- VIEW
- PREFERENCES
- DISPLAY MANAGER (tab at top)
- Turn "Automatically Store Selection" off (toggle)
- OK (at bottom of dialog window)
Highlighted text can now be cut or copied using either the toolbox,
pull-down menus, or function keys.
To delete text, go to the toolbox and use the scissors to
cut the selected text or go to the "EDIT" pull-down menu and
click on the "Clear selected text".
Text can always be cut using the "block delete" line commands
