Printing: Setup Options in UNIX

System: UNIX version 6.12

1. Command mode:

Enter PRINT on the command line. This method prints 2 pages per sheet (a2ps) regardless of the settings discussed below.
2. Pull-down mode:
Option 1: Printing 2 pages per sheet of paper (a2ps)
Printouts from SAS will have 2 pages per sheet of paper if HOST PRINTING is turned off. The first time you try to print with pull-down menus, you will be asked if you want HOST PRINTING on or off. Select off. Presently, this method generates warning messages in the SAS LOG, but these messages can be ignored.

Your HOST PRINTING settings can be changed at anytime as follows:

Using the pull-down menus, click

VIEW
PREFERENCES
DISPLAY MANAGER (tab at top)
Use host printing (turn off)
OK (at bottom of dialog box)
Option 2: Printing 1 page per sheet of paper (lpr)
Step 1: Turn HOST PRINTING on as follows:
Using the pull-down menus, click
VIEW
PREFERENCES
DISPLAY MANAGER (tab at top)
Use host printing (turn on)
OK (at bottom of dialog box)
Step 2: Route output to lpr command:
This step changes the default action of storing output to a file to the printer. Using the pull-down menus, click
FILE
PRINT SETUP (Host printing must be "on" for SETUP to appear)
PROPERTIES
Modify NAME text to "Print PS to printer"
Turn PRINTER on (FILE off) for "Route output to"
Replace prn.ps with lpr (in box)
OK
OK
